2. The Meaning of “Perfect” in Scripture
“Perfect” means “complete,” “finished,” or “full grown.”
Jesus was made "perfect" through suffering (Hebrews 2:10; 5:8-9)
We are to grow up and be mature as Christians (Philippians 3:15; Ephesians 4:13)

3. The Context of “Perfect” in Matthew 5
Jesus challenges us to exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees (Matthew 5:17-20)
We are to love our enemies so that we may be sons of our heavenly Father (Matthew 5:43-47)
Our love should be as complete as God’s love!
