Comparing and Ordering Integers
Objective: Learn to compare and order integers.
2
You can use a number line to compare integers.
On a horizontal number line, the farther to the right a number is, the greater it is. -2 is to the right of -4, so -2 > (-2 is greater than -4) -5 is to the left of +2, so -5 < (-5 is less than +2)
3
On a vertical number line,
The farther up the number is in the number line, the greater it is. The lower the number on the vertical number line the smaller it is. -1 is above -4, so -1 > -4 Your Example: Use <,>, or = to compare each pair of numbers. -4 _______ _____ 3 -2 _______ 0
