GISS measures are… based on the student achievement initiative (new accountability system in SBCTC), which measures… Building towards college level skills (basic skills gains, passing precollege writing or math) First year retention (earning 15 then 30 college level credits) Completing a college level math course (prof-tech and academic transfer) Completions at tipping point (degrees, 1- or 2-year certificates, apprenticeship training) cohort-based (mostly following students who started in fall 2006)

GISS measures… Academic transfer students
Long-term measure: Progress 4 years after students started (shown for all students and by race/ethnicity) Intermediate measure: Achievement of college math point by the end of second year by pre-college math status (shown for all students) Professional-technical students Long-term measure: Progress 4 years after students started (long-term measure, shown for all students and by race/ethnicity) Intermediate measure: Earned 30 college level credits by the end of second year (shown by race/ethnicity) Basic skills students Long-term measure: Progress 4 years after students started (shown for all students)
