Geology is the study of Earth Divided into 2 smaller categories: Physical Geology : The study of the materials that make up Earth and possible explanations for the processes that shape the planet Historical Geology : The study of the long history of Earth.

Temperatures of the inner earth increased, causing melting. This allowed the elements that were more dense to sink towards the center Lighter rocky components floated outward, toward the surface. Gaseous material escaped from Earth’s interior to produce the primitive atmosphere
