Benefits Fraud prevention Early notification of shipments Personnel/equipment management Pre-clearance Manage import risks Improved product supply chain Reduction in costs Increased speed Greater transparency Introduction of E-cert internationally will have many internal advantages for importing countries. If all imports of food are certified electronically, there will be an opportunity to introduce secure, cost effective integrated internal systems. Early notification of shipments means that you can target your resources to the most appropriate time and place; you can pre-clear products so they are not sitting on the wharf; you can make decisions on what you are going to inspect days before the consignment arrives. This can be managed centrally, with coordinated actions at all ports. The re-engineering of the supply chain can unleash enormous sums of money which is currently hidden in wasted activity.
