Figure 1 Post-translational Modifications of Smo and Their Effect on Hh Signal Transduction Ubiquitinated Smo is subject to constant turnover by the proteasome and the lysosome. Upon Hh activation, phosphorylation and sumoylation work in parallel to antagonizes Smo’s ubiquitin-mediated proteolysis.
