2. Do Now: Answer the following questions in your Science Notebook
What format should your hypothesis be stated?
If…, then… because
Create an example hypothesis from the following question: Does soaking the bean seed before planting it affect how fast it will grow?
Possible Hypothesis: If I soak bean seeds before planting them, then they will grow faster than non-soaked seeds because soaking makes the hard seed covering soft.

3. Research & Hypothesis Assignment
Research is thorough and specific. Explanations of the IV and DV are clear.
How the IV affects the DV is clearly explained.
Hypothesis uses proper format “If ___, then ___ because __”
The “because” component references information discovered while researching.
