1 “Houston Astros Are World Series Champions”

2 (Dodger Stadium - Los Angeles, California) The Houston Astros beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-1 in Game 7 of the World Series last night, winning their first ever championship crown in the franchise's 56-year history. The Astros jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings and held on for the rest of the game watching the Dodgers squander multiple opportunities to score. "We held down a really tough lineup," said Astros pitcher Charlie Morton. The losing pitcher was the Dodgers' Yu Darvish, who lasted only 1 2/3 innings, giving up four runs. By game's end, the Dodgers had left 10 runners on base. Astros outfielder George Springer was named the series MVP. He finished the World Series with 11 hits in 29 at-bats, including a 2-for-5 performance in Game 7. Originated in 1962 as the Houston Colt .45s, the Astros have spent nearly their entire existence out of playoff contention. Now, after years of Houston's toiling near the bottom of the standings, the process has finally paid off in the best way possible.

3 In Other News The CIA on Wednesday announced it released a massive part of files it said came from the Osama bin Laden raid in Among them: the deceased al Qaeda founder's personal journal. CIA Director Mike Pompeo said the release "provides the opportunity for the American people to gain further insights into the plans and workings of this terrorist organization.” The release came in accordance with a 2014 appropriations bill for intelligence activity that required the Director of National Intelligence to review documents obtained from the raid, and make the files it declassified from the review available to the public. In addition to bin Laden's journal, the CIA said the release includes thousands of other documents as well as al Qaeda's potential promotional and planning materials. In carrying out this week’s NYC terror attack, Saipov relied on the playbook layed out by ISIS in recent years, officials said. Miller said that handwritten notes in Arabic found near the scene had both symbols and words, but the general message was that the Islamic State would endure forever. "He appears to have followed almost exactly to a 'T' the instructions that ISIS has put out in its social media channels before with instructions to their followers on how to carry out such an attack," Miller said.
