Friendship is clearly a central theme in the novel as we follow the journey of George and Lennie throughout the novella. The friendship is unnatural for the time and ends badly. Evidence Steinbeck’s message is that… Complete this paragraph and insert a quote and analysis. Success Criteria: Evidence matches the point You look at language, words or techniques in the quote in detail. You refer to Steinbeck’s message You answer the question – what does it tell you about American Society? Challenge: Include alternative interpretations.
