4. LIVING CONDITIONS Urbanization – the movement of people to cities
Cities became overcrowded with a lack of housing
Large factories produced mass pollution
Class tensions increased with the development of the middle class

9. RISE OF CORPORATIONS
The Industrial Revolution created more business opportunities as the amount of workers increased
Corporation – A legal entity that is separate and distinct from its owners
Created a total shift from an agrarian society to an industrial society

10. HEAVY INDUSTRY
Assembly Line – allowed factories to produce goods quicker and more efficiently
The use of machines allowed production to happen quicker and required less skilled laborers

13. MECHANIZED FARMING
Machines began to replace humans or animals making farming production more efficient
Example – Jethro Tull’s seed drill
Crop rotation also became a common practice making better crops
Tractors became available in the early 20th century
