2. WHAT IS A FORMATION?
A Formations is the way a soccer team lines up its defense, midfield, and forward line at the beginning of the match.
Soccer is a fluid game where a midfielder may become a forward for five or ten minutes and then return to his original position. Or, likewise, a forward can come back to defend.

3. When talking about formations, defenders are listed first and then midfielders and forward.
For example, a formation has four defenders, four midfielders, and two forwards
Goalkeepers are not counted because they are the one position that has not changed over the years.

The formation is the most popular formation in today’s game. It consists of four defenders, four midfielders, two forwards and a goalie

6. The
4-5-1 is essentially a defensive formation to pack the midfield and restrict the other team s creativity from the midfield area.

7. The 4-3-3
The consists of four defenders, three midfielders, three forwards and a goalie. At one time this formation was the dominant style of play for teams at all levels. It is the easiest and least complex formation to learn, understand and play within.

8. The
The places more of an emphasis on the wing-backs than the does, as there's no winger in front of them to carry the load on the flanks This formation is often used by higher levels of competitors such as collegiate or professional teams.

9. The
This is a popular formation used by professional and World Cup teams today. It is complex and is built for a team with a strong offensive lineup, especially one with strong midfielders

10. The 3-4-3
The formation uses three centre-backs, two wing-backs, two central midfielders and three forwards.
The central striker generally plays as a target man-esque figure, while the wide forwards retain free license to drift inward, get in the box or drop in and join the buildup play.
