Opening Hymn Jesus, Savior Pilot Me
Hymnal # 509 Used By Permission. CCLI License #
7
Jesus, Savior, pilot me over life's tempestuous sea; unknown waves before me roll, hiding rock and treacherous shoal. Chart and compass come from thee; Jesus, Savior, pilot me.
8
As a mother stills her child, thou canst hush the ocean wild; boisterous waves obey thy will, when thou sayest to them, "Be still!" Wondrous sovreign of the sea, Jesus, Savior, pilot me.
9
When at last I near the shore, and the fearful breakers roar 'twixt me and the peaceful rest, then, while leaning on thy breast, may I hear thee say to me, "Fear not, I will pilot thee."
10
Opening Prayer Based upon John 6:16-21 Dear Jesus, sometimes like the disciples on the lake, all around us seems dark and we don’t sense your presence. In the darkness it is easy to fall victim to rough waters and strong winds blowing us off course, as the disciples did. Give us eyes to see you approaching us, walking on rough waters and defying strong winds.
11
Opening Prayer Based upon John 6:16-21 Give us: faith to believe in you, strength to stand strong when darkness threatens us, hearts ready to receive your peace and spirits open to receive your healing touch. Give us the ability to share your healing touch and peace with others. Amen.

Scripture Reading II Samuel 11:1-5, 26-27
David Commits Adultery with Bathsheba 11 1 In the spring of the year, the time when kings go out to battle, David sent Joab with his officers and all Israel with him; they ravaged the Ammonites, and besieged Rabbah. But David remained at Jerusalem. 2 It happened, late one afternoon, when David rose from his couch and was walking about on the roof of the king’s house, that he saw from the roof a woman bathing; the woman was very beautiful. 3 David sent someone to inquire about the woman. It was reported, “This is Bathsheba daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite.” 4 So David sent messengers to get her, and she came to him, and he lay with her. (Now she was purifying herself after her period.) Then she returned to her house. 5 The woman conceived; and she sent and told David, “I am pregnant.”

Scripture Reading II Samuel 11:26-27 Mark 6:53-56
26 When the wife of Uriah heard that her husband was dead, she made lamentation for him. 27 When the mourning was over, David sent and brought her to his house, and she became his wife, and bore him a son. Mark 6:53-56 Healing the Sick in Gennesaret 53 When they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret and moored the boat. 54 When they got out of the boat, people at once recognized him, 55 and rushed about that whole region and began to bring the sick on mats to wherever they heard he was. 56 And wherever he went, into villages or cities or farms, they laid the sick in the marketplaces, and begged him that they might touch even the fringe of his cloak; and all who touched it were healed.
