True or false! We shall go through the answers at the end! Approx 1200 people in the world take their own lives each day. Someone somewhere commits suicide every 1 and a half minutes. Men are much more likely than women to kill themselves. The most vulnerable age group for suicide is between the ages of 20 and 45. In 2006 there were over 6,000 deaths from suicide in the UK and Ireland. In the UK death by suicide is the second biggest killer of teenagers after car accidents. Bullying, arguments with parents, and failure in school exams are the reasons a lot of teenagers commit suicide. Approx 10% of people who fail in their attempt to take their own live succeed later in doing so. One in 3 teenagers who die as a result of suicide are under the influence of alcohol at the time.
