Other facts A remarkable 53.6 % of Slovenia is protected land. More than half of its total area covered in forest; Slovenia really is one of the greenest countries in the world. It’s one of the world’s most environmentally-friendly nations (The Environmental Performance Index (EPI)). National Geographic named Slovenia the World’s Most Sustainable Country (2017). Ljubljana - Europe’s Greenest Capital in 2016 by the European Union. “Hives and honey are practically a religion in Slovenia – around 90,000 beekeepers in a population of just two million” There’s a vineyard for every 70 people. … Food! (2017 World’s Best Female Chef) It’s home to Europe’s cheapest ski resort … sports: golf, spa’s … It’s very safe!
