2. Endosymbiotic Theory
States how eukaryotic cells were formed by the joining together or prokaryotic cells.
Eukaryotic
Cell that has a nucleus and membrane-bound organelles
Prokaryotic
Cell that DOES NOT have a nucleus or membrane-bound organelles.
Nucleus
the control center of a cell, has the cell's DNA
Vacuole
Stores water and nutrients in a cell.

Site of protein assembly found in the cytoplasm of ALL cells
Mitochondria
Site of Cellular Respiration and energy production
Chloroplast
Organelle that contains chlorophyll which carries out photosynthesis.
Plasma Membrane
a bi-layer of phospholipids and embedded proteins that surrounds all living cells
Cell Wall
A rigid outer structure surrounding the cells of plants, fungi, and bacteria; in plants contains cellulose.
