Fire Procedure When the alarm sounds, stay calm and silent.
Walk outside in a single file line. Line up single file on the sidewalk. Answer the roll call. Wait silently for further directions. Re-enter the classroom calmly.

Tornado Procedure When you hear the announcement, stay calm and silent. Walk across the hall in a single file line. Close the door if you are the last to leave. Crouch down in the hallway and place your hands over your head. Wait silently for further directions. Re-enter the classroom calmly.

Earthquake Procedure When you hear the announcement or feel shaking, stay calm and silent. Get under your desk. Wait silently for further directions. Resume working or exit fire drill fashion calmly.

Intruder Procedure Our actions will depend on the situation.
Listen carefully and follow instructions immediately.

Class Rules Bring all needed materials to class.
Be in your seat and working before the bell rings. Show respect to yourself, others, and all property. Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself. Speak at appropriate times using an appropriate voice and language.

Entering Class Walk into the classroom quietly and calmly.
A bell-ringer will be on the board when you arrive. Begin working immediately.

Leaving Class When the bell rings, I will dismiss you.
There are four minutes between most classes. This is your opportunity to go to your locker and use the 7th grade restrooms. Use this time wisely!

Hallway Behavior We will occasionally walk to the computer lab or library as a class. You are to line up according to our seating chart. You are to walk in a silent single file line all the way to our destination. When we arrive, you are to sit in seating chart order.

My Signal When I raise my hand or ring my bell, that is the signal that I need your attention immediately. Please stop, look, and listen.

Your Signal When you need to talk or leave your seat, raise your hand and wait to be called on. Do not wave your hand, make noises, or yell my name. I will help you as soon as possible.

ELA Supplies Binder containing a folder and wide-rule loose leaf paper Two composition notebooks Reading textbook or novel Planner A.R. book Pencil bag containing PENCILS, colored pencils, ear buds, glue sticks, and highlighter 3x5 Index cards You are responsible for bringing your things to class. Please keep your locker tidy, so that this will be easy to do.

Personal Property Backpacks, gum, and water bottles are NOT allowed in class. Combs, picks, lip gloss, etc. should not be used during class. You may have a cell phone at school, but it must be turned off. If it is visible, it will be confiscated. If you have money, keep it in your pocket. Any personal property brought to school is your responsibility.

Bell-Ringers You will have a Bell-Ringer every single day.
You will have approximately five minutes to complete the work. Read your A.R. book silently when you finish.

Heading Your Paper Always start writing on the FRONT of the sheet.
The heading goes on the RIGHT hand side. Write your first and last NAME on the first line. Write the PERIOD on the second line.

Assignments Unless otherwise specified, ALL assignments will be written in sentence form!

Handing Out & Turning In Papers
Handing out papers- Students in the front will receive a stack of papers. Take one and pass the stack back. Turning in papers- Starting at the back of the row, pass papers forward until they reach the student in the front of the row. I will collect the papers from the students sitting in the front row.

Homework You will have ONE homework assignment per week. It will be given on Monday and is due on Friday. Homework assignments will be discussed in class and written on the board. You are responsible for writing homework assignments in your own planner every Monday. Homework WILL be graded.

Turning In Papers We will turn papers in to the tray by the door.
Each period has its own “IN” drawer. NEVER place papers on my desk! They disappear!

Late Work If an assignment is not turned in when I collect it, it will be considered late and ten points will be deducted.

Make Up Work YOU are responsible for getting and completing assignments you miss while you are absent, so check the folder.

Extra Credit NO extra credit will be given. It is your job to give every assignment your best effort the first time around.

Partner & Group Work You will work with partners and in groups regularly. Sometimes, I will assign the partners/groups. You will not complain about the partner/group you are assigned to work with. Working with others is a part of life. Depending on your behavior, you will sometimes be allowed to choose your own partners/groups.

AR Requirements You are required to earn AR points this year.
Q1- 6 points, Q2- 8 points, Q3- 10 points, Q4- 10 points The books you read on your own must be on your reading level.

My Library Books may be checked out from my library.
There is a “Book Check-Out” to fill out every time you borrow a book from me. When you are finished with the book, turn it in to ME.

Facebook I am not available on Facebook. I have a strict policy against communicating with students or parents via social media.

Off Limits The office, computers, teacher desks, Elmo, and Interwrite Dualboard are off limits unless you are granted permission to use them.

Class Visitors & Phone Calls
If a visitor comes to the door or I receive a phone call, you are to be silent. Work on an assignment or read your A.R. book until class resumes.
