2 REMEMBER: Can not multiply a mixed #.
DO NOW: REMEMBER: Can not multiply a mixed #. Take out packet and H.W. Take a whiteboard & marker and solve this problem. (2½) (¼) (½) = ? (5/2) (¼) (½) = ? (5/8) (½) = ? 5/16

3 Lets Try one more: = ?

4 I will be able to apply my knowledge of multiplication of fractions
So I can use the formula V = lwh to find the volume of a right rectangular prisms with fractional edge lengths. I will show that I understood when I can solve at least 3 real world or mathematical problems independently or with a partner with at least 80% accuracy. 6.G.A.2

5 Language objective By the end of the lesson, students will be able to use the language domains of reading and writing to communicate the academic math language of volumes of right rectangular prisms with fractional edge lengths. They will verbally communicate and write/apply their knowledge of multiplication of fractions and use the formula V = lwh to find the volumes of right rectangular prisms with fractional edge lengths. They will show their understanding by solving at least 3 real world or mathematical problems independently or with a partner with at least 80% accuracy. Academic Math Language Vocabulary : volume, right rectangle, prism, fractional, edge, length.

6 ** Will only watch the first minute of the video.

7

8 Go to pg. 54 Find the VOLUME of both the rectangular prisms.
V= (l)(w)(h) V= (10)(4)(6) V= (8)(5)(12) V= 240 in3 V= 480 in3

topic.

10 I/We do…….Pg. 58 #1

11 I/We do…….Pg. 58 #1 Because the cubes are not each 1in., the volume is different from the number of cubes. Because some of the lengths are 1/3 in. and some are 2/3 in., it would not be possible to use side lengths of ½ in. to fill the prism.

12 How do you feel about this lesson?
topic.

13 We do…….Pg. 59 #5 a. b.

14 How do you feel about this lesson?
topic.

15 Pg. 54 & 55 (all) Pg. 62 Pg (all)

16 Accommodations Read or reread presentation or activity directions, as needed or after prompting Use examples to model and act as a guide for emerging learners
