What is a Republic? A Republic is a government where the power lies in elected representatives. These elected officials represent all of the civilian population and should make decisions with them in mind

What are the 3 branches of Government?
Legislative (Congress) Executive (The President) Judicial (The Supreme Court)

The Legislative Branch
Made up of the House of Representatives and the Senate Has the power to tax, set up trading with other countries, build and maintain a military, declare war, and create laws Representatives are elected and serve terms (2 years for HoR and 6 years for Senate)

Executive Branch Elected leader of the country
Has the power to Veto (stop laws from being passed) Serves 4 year terms, but with a maximum of 2 terms

Judicial Branch Responsible for the interpretation of the Constitution
Similar to a Referee (settles disputes and creates rulings, or precedents) Judges are appointed to the supreme court and serve until they are unfit
