5. East Sussex Secondary Schools
Free Schools
Free Schools are all-ability state-funded schools set up in response to what local people say they want and need in order to improve education for children in their community
Foundation and Trust Schools
Run by their Governing Body and set their own Admissions Criteria.
Community Schools
Run by the Local authority
Voluntary Aided
Priority is given to pupils of that faith. Run by their Governing Body and set their own Admissions Criteria.
Academies
Independently managed and setup in partnership with the Department of Education. Admissions criteria will be set by the Academy.

8. How to apply
Online
Step by step instructions will take you through the process.
Applying online means:
your application is safe;
you can apply 24 hours a day, seven days a week;
you can be sure your application has been received; and
a decision can be ed to you.
You can apply online from 12 September Once you have registered with the system you can ‘sign in’ to view your account at a later date.

9. How to apply
Remember:
As the admissions criteria decides which children are offered places, no guarantee can be given. The law allows a preference and not a choice.
You have 3 preferences, please use them!
You must include the names and dates of birth of any brothers and sisters on the form
Paper
If you cannot apply online, you may print and complete the application form found at the end. Your completed form should be returned to the address specified.
