1 By Jonathan Ma The Walk Cycle Among Other Things
Title screen. I used to have more in the background, but it took to long to render, which messed up the timing, making everything look choppy. Too many gradients and shadows, I expect.

2 Note that this slide is untouchable
Note that this slide is untouchable. I used slide masters to make things simpler.

3 The guy’s off screen in this slide.

4 I couldn’t be bothered to draw all of my guy at this point.

5 You can see my fully-drawn guy here in this slide.

90 I used custom animation to make things go smoother and faster
I used custom animation to make things go smoother and faster. The circle on the left side of the screen was put in place so that I could drag the motion path off of the screen. The dust cloud was added to forego the hassle of drawing moving body limbs. It looks bad when it’s a still image, but it isn’t half bad when it’s moving.

91 As you can see, this slide is rather heavy on custom animation
As you can see, this slide is rather heavy on custom animation. It was a pain in the butt to implement. But it worked out in the end. The wall lags the presentation up a bit, having so many pieces, so this part is a little choppy. I don’t know where the wall came from. It just appeared, I suppose.

92 The wall begins to tip. Note the arrow off-screen that I used to mark its location. The guy is also off screen, just because I planned on using him later.

Boom. Nice smoke effects here. I played with the transparency settings a bit until they worked the way I wanted them to. The guy now runs into the sun. This is around the time when I finally got bored, and decided to end the animation through some strange means. This is what I came up with.

Steam can be seen here, and the ground and rock begin to change color. I couldn’t change the shadow color of the rock, though.

122

123 Darker still.

124 The rock turns into ash, but it’s not very evident.

125 The sun dims.

127 The sun now collapses in on itself.

138 In preparation for the white slide, I set everything onscreen to 50% transparency.

139 The white screen which signifies destruction of our galaxy
The white screen which signifies destruction of our galaxy. A nice fade ends the main animation. I’d add some white noise, but that’d be a hard sound clip to find.

140 fin A tribute to the films of old.

141 fin

142 fin This is just replicating the problems inherent in using film projections, namely, artifacts and movement.

143 fin

144 fin

145 fin “fin” changes to red. This symbolizes the massive death and destruction which must have taken place during this animation. A total of 132 slides for an animation of about 28 seconds. Fiat.
