Classroom Procedures & Expectations
Be here & be ready to begin class when the bell rings. When you are tardy, do not come in the room without your tardy card. Be prepared to remain in class unless you are prepared to use one of your hall passes. Have all supplies, including your textbook, & assignments so that you can contribute intellectually. I insist that you bring your brain & your materials to class. Your good looks are optional! Make sure all assignments are complete & ready to turn in. Use restroom on your own time.
8
You’ll be allowed to use the restroom twice per grading period without using a hall pass. After that, you must use a hall pass. Unused hall passes are worth 1 pt extra credit each at the end of the six weeks.
9
Classroom Procedures & Expectations
Unused hall passes count as extra credit at the end of the six weeks! Please ask questions. Asking questions is a sign of intelligence. Not asking questions means that someone is not thinking or not paying attention.
10
Classroom Procedures & Expectations
What if I have to use the restroom? You may use the restroom during class twice per six weeks. Sign the potty tracker. Can I eat and drink? You may drink bottled water. You may not drink anything else. You may eat before class as long as you throw away your trash.

Classroom Procedures & Expectations
Can I use electronic devices? Only when granted permission If you haven’t asked for and received permission to text (including texting Mama, the POTUS, your BFF, your BF/GF, your probation officer, etc.), update your status, listen to music, take a photo, surf the web, charge your device, etc., your device will be confiscated. Can I clump by the door before the bell rings? Sorry, no.
12
Classroom Procedures & Expectations
Does the teacher lend me pens, pencils, paper, books, etc.? Generally, no; talk to me privately if supplies are an issue so that I can help you! Is there any extra credit? Rarely; do your work in the first place, and you won’t need it. Extra credit is ALWAYS offered to the entire class, not just to the person who finds out he has a low grade the day before grades are due.
13
Classroom Procedures & Expectations
How much homework will I have? The good news: You’ll probably have less than many other teachers give you. The tradeoff? We use EVERY SINGLE minute of class. I’m not a babysitter. You’re not here to be babysat. I would rather use class time wisely and give you more time outside of class to use as you wish. Homework: unfinished class work; test reviews

Classroom Procedures & Expectations
What happens if I don’t do my own work? You’ll earn a 0 and won’t be able to redo the assignment. Your parents will be notified. Most importantly, you won’t learn anything! What do I do when I’m absent? The answer depends on whether or not you knew you’d be absent…
15
Classroom Procedures & Expectations
What do I do when I know I’m going to be absent? Going on a field trip or school-related event? You must ask for your work ahead of time, no exceptions ever. If you don’t, your work will be counted late. Going to miss class due to a personal appointment or family thing? Talk to me in advance, or me. Check my web site ( What do I do when I was absent and didn’t know about I would be?

Classroom Procedures & Expectations
What do I do when I was absent and didn’t know that I would be? We were disappointed that you weren’t here, but we did move forward with our regularly scheduled activities… me and check the web site. If you were here on the day an assignment was given, it is due upon your return. Check the make up work folder when you return. Look over the work, and ask me questions. We may have done work that you can’t make up. In that case you won’t earn a 0, but you also won’t earn a 100… Complete and turn in the work on time. You have one class day for each class day you were gone.
17
Classroom Procedures & Expectations
Can I turn work in late? Yes, for a grade penalty; one calendar day=20 pts., two calendar days=30 points, four calendar days=35 points After that=

Classroom Procedures & Expectations
Do I have to abide by the dress code? YES! Facial jewelry, hats, halter tops, spaghetti straps, and leggings that allow us to see the curves and nooks and crannies of your torso are not allowed. If students can’t dress appropriately, making wearing uniforms mandatory is the next logical step.
