2-2 Energy All living things use energy Energy
·Ability to do work or cause change ·There are different types: electrical, mechanical, radiant, thermal, and chemical. ·Can change from form to form. *EX. Light bulb filament. Filament (electrical) to light (radiant) to heat (thermal).

States of Matter 3 Phases *Solid *Liquid *Gas
All atoms and molecules are in constant motion 3 Phases *Solid *Liquid *Gas
3
Solid Tightly linked Definite shape Vibrate in place
4
Liquid Not so tight Maintains fix volume Moves freely
5
Gas Loose Fits container Move rapidly
6
Energy and chemical reactions
· CO2 + H2O H2CO3 · 3 atoms + 3 atoms = 6 atoms. The number of atoms on each side is equal. This reaction takes place in our blood · The double arrow means that the reaction can take place in both directions ·CO2 and H2O are reactants H2CO3 (carbonic acid which is good for homeostasis) is the product
