Alcohol is a key programme
We have worked closely with other organisations across Cheshire and Merseyside on many actions to reduce the harm caused by Alcohol. We know that the scale of the problem means that we cannot tackle it alone, and that no one activity is going to have a big impact in isolation.

3. So what about IBA - Well, we’ve been on a bit of a journey
So what about IBA - Well, we’ve been on a bit of a journey. Unfortunately not to this destination, although I can always dream.
ChaMPs dream was to make sure that every opportunity was used to deliver a brief intervention regarding alcohol. We know that there are many organisations who work with the public, in many different settings and in different ways. How did we go about influencing the right people to realise this dream.
Over the last couple of years we have been a member of two strategic forums. One is the Safer, Stronger Communities Board in the Liverpool City Region, and the other is the Cheshire and Warrington Health and Wellbeing Commission. Both these strategic groups have taken on Alcohol as a key priority and have approved proposals prepared by ChaMPs on action to reduce alcohol harm. Some of these proposals have been around Minimum Unit price and the use of a byelaw at a local level. However the one that is relevant today is ChaMPs recommendation for all public sector agencies to make a strategic commitment to ensuring their staff are enable to deliver IBA in the communities they serve.
Where did the suggestion for that strategic commitment come from? ?????? Alcohol concern report. Done a lot of work with PCTs.
Following the agreement of this commitment to IBA ChaMPs was able to offer and co-ordinate a programme of training – undertaken with Police, Fire and Rescue and Cheshire East council leisure services.
