5 THE DEDICATION Each of the 12 tribes participated on a different day in the dedication ceremony Exodus 40:34-35  Then the cloud covered the tent of meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. Moses was not able to enter the tent of meeting because the cloud had settled on it, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle. Leviticus 9:23-24  Moses and Aaron went into the tent of meeting. When they came out and blessed the people, the glory of the LORD appeared to all the people. Then fire came out from before the LORD and consumed the burnt offering and the portions of fat on the altar; and when all the people saw it, they shouted and fell on their faces.

6 THE SACRIFICES/OFFERINGS
Seven types of sacrificial offerings were made: sin, guilt (trespass), burnt, peace, grain, heave and wave, and the red heifer. Leviticus 4:2-3 "Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, 'If a person sins unintentionally in any of the things which the LORD has commanded not to be done, and commits any of them, if the anointed priest sins so as to bring guilt on the people, then let him offer to the LORD a bull without defect as a sin offering for the sin he has committed; offered for the person The guilt offering was for a specific wrong The burnt offering was entirely consumed and represented the complete submission of the person to God

7 SACRIFICES AND OFFERINGS
Sacrifice of peace offered in communion with God. It was divided into three kinds: 1. the thank offering “sacrifice of thanksgiving,” 2. the votive offering “sacrifice of a vow; 3. the freewill offering. It always followed all the other sacrifices and served to establish the fellowship of divine grace; Grain and drink offerings were a symbol of the spiritual food that Israel strove after as the fruit of its spiritual labor, or those good works in which true sanctification must necessarily embody itself. It was ears of grain with some grain ground or cakes made of flour; offered with oil and incense; the drink offering was always wine

8 SACRIFICES AND OFFERINGS
The heave (lifted up) and the wave (horizontal) offerings were special gifts used for the maintenance of the temple and other non-required sacrifices The heave offering could only be used by the priest and his children The wave offering had specific purposes: 1. the first sheaf offered on the second day of the Passover (first fruits) 2. the two lambs as a thank offering at the feast of Pentecost 3. the lamb and the log of oil as a trespass offering for the purification of the leper 4. the thank offering of the Nazirite 5. the jealousy offering

9 THE RED HEIFER The 3 year old heifer was slaughtered outside the camp; the priest took blood and sprinkled it seven times toward the sanctuary The ashes of the Red Heifer were mixed with fresh water and hyssop was used to sprinkle it on the unclean person on the third and seventh days; the tent where a corpse had lain was purified in the same way Until this year, only 9 red heifers were previously known; each was sacrificed in a specially built place on the Mt. of Olives The Red Heifer symbolizes the life of Christ, in his 3rd year of ministry The ashes were carefully guarded by priests at all times
