1 Membership Organizations in the 21st Century

2 One of the defining characteristics of a social movement is that it is relatively long lasting; the activity of the membership is sustained over a period of weeks, months, or even years rather than flaring up for a few hours or a few days and then disappearing. (CPF started in 1977)

3 Collaborative Networks
Independent contribution/Systems approach System as a solution that integrates all the moving parts of the organization into a well oiled machine all working towards realizing a goal. Traditionally, the various parts of an association are independent and contribute in a dynamic way to furthering the organization as a whole – too often they exist in silos – often co-existing separate from each other.

4 CPF Network Strategic Directions 2015-2020
See the blue section D Organization Lead a dynamic strong and effective network How does this fit into collaborative network?

5 Report to CPF National Dec 2013

6 Naylor Report Observations
To thrive today, organizations must demonstrate adaptive capacity – monitor, assess and respond to internal and external changes Great deal of good will for changes to happen; stakeholders are ready to put their best efforts forward to support a robust CPF Reference Naylor Report December 2013

7 Naylor Report Recommendations
Development of a meaningful membership database is a priority Development of a youth category and a CPF supporter category to encourage maintenance of long term relationships 3 year timeline for suggested changes to be implemented Reference Naylor Report December 2013 New Plan arranged in pillars: each pillar represents an important aspect of Canadian parents for French work

8 Naylor Report – Key Discussion
While a very small minority of CPF stakeholders engaged for the membership model review talked about imploding the current membership model, the data strongly shows that stakeholders want to make a genuine attempt to address the problems with the current model before turning to a whole new strategy.
