2. Membership
Canada, Republic of Korea (KHOA) and Jeppesen joined the CG.
The members are: Australia, Canada, Denmark (Danish Maritime Authority), France, Greece, Japan, Republic of Korea, New-Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Turkey, United-Kingdom, United States, CIRM, Jeppesen and KRISO.

3. Activities since NIPWG 1
In 2015, DMA and KRISO-Jeppesen worked together to harmonize their data models for NWs (UML models) in accordance with S-100
The first version of a harmonized model was presented during the S-124 CG meeting held just after WWNWS-SC meeting in Monaco (28 August 2015)
Jeppesen-DMA-KRISO and France iterated on the model, taking in account a serie of requirements for new functionalities expected

4. Activities since NIPWG 1
The outcome will be reviewed within all the CG via a coding excercise based on real cases (1st semester )
A draft product specification has been written
DMA offers that some of the testing of the model will take place into the EfficienSea 2 project ( )
The scope of the S-124 CG’s work was presented to IALA ENAV 17 (oct 2015).

5. The CG is refining the data model (application schema), taking into account requirements for digital NWs. Some requirements are derived from a draft scenario of the use of digital NWs. This scenario outlines solutions that meet the user needs and gaps. A S-123 product is used in it. The CG considers also the period of transition where a dual production of NWs (S-124 and current S-53) will exist.

6. S-124 needs data transmissions The S-124 only deals with the NW itself, not with instructions for the different communication systems. However, there is a need of harmonized procedures for addressing NWs from coordinator to the different communication systems (different satellite systems, NAVDAT,…).

7. Coordination with the work on the implementation of the e-navigation Strategy Implementation Plan
The mandate and the work of the S-124 CG are in line. Cf S CG’s TOR:
To develop an S-100 Product Specification and its component Feature and Portrayal Catalogues for Navigational Warnings (NW) to improve dissemination and integration within bridge systems and shore systems via a digital format. The Product Specification is expected to contribute to the technical infrastructure of the e-navigation as designed by IMO and to the modernization of the Global Maritime Distress and Safety Systems (GMDSS).
