Sketches and Drawings are usually made that include exact sizes, shapes, and details of a design
Engineers examine ideas to decide which idea will work best
Costs are calculated for the best ideas

5. Step 4
Analysis
Engineers examine each part for correct size, strength, and material
All details must be determined and decided upon
The actual engineering step of the process

6. Step5 Decision Must choose which design is best
Artist concepts, drawings, or models are used to determine the best design
The Outcome
Accept one design
Combine the best of several designs into a new design
Turn down all designs and repeat the process

7. Step 6 Implementation Puts the idea into real form
Final plans are drawn
Specifications are written
Drawings and specifications are used for guides to construction
The actual building of the design

8. Design Factors Function - Will it do the job?
Appearance - Is it pleasing to the eye?
Cost - Will it stay within budget?
Materials - Are the right materials being used?
Strength - Will the design support it’s purpose?
