What is cPanel?
Web-based Control Panel
Manage your domain by a web interface
It gives you the ability to manage:
, files, backup, FTP, scripts, etc.
Gives you access to site statistics
What is cPanel?
CPanel is a fully featured web-based control panel that allows you to manage your domain through a web interface.
The idea is to transfer much of the control and responsibility of managing your web site to you, the CS Officer.
You have the ability to manage all aspects of , files, backup, FTP, CGI scripts, and web site statistics.

3. How to gain access to cPanel
Must have website access privileges
webmaster username/password
Enter your unit’s URL with a colon and the numbers 2082 in the browser address (e.g.
A sign-on screen will appear
To gain access to cPanel
You must have access privileges of your department website. A Username and Password is required and is the same username/password your webmaster uses to gain access to the National Web Server.
The access URL will be your unit’s URL with a colon and the numbers (Example:

4. How to gain access to cPanel
Sign-on Screen will appear
Enter in your Username and Password
Then click OK button and the cPanel Screen will appear
The Sign-on Screen

Enter in your Password: ____________
When you gain access to your cPanel, you'll see a screen (see next slide)

The number of icons is determined by the access level your website has been given. For this tutorial, we will be focusing on how to setup your MAIL Services, so we will only discuss this Mail Section of CPanel. For more information about CPanel and its other features scroll down on the main page and the last item of the left column is 'Documentation: Click to view'. If you click on 'Click to view' you will be linked to a short CPanel User's Manual.

Exploring the cPanel Screen
In the upper right corner is the Home and LOGOUT buttons. Use these hyperlinks to either return to the main cPanel screen or Logout of cPanel.
The current version of cPanel loaded on the National Web Server is version 10.
All Auxiliary websites that reside on the National Web Server must have a contact . If your contact address hasn’t been set, please do so.
Once the contact Address has been set, then the Web Server Administrator can sent administrative messages to that unit’s contact person.

There is much information in the General Account Information box, but the items of interest to the CS Officer are the Disk Space Usage, Disk Space Available, Accounts and the Forwarders.

You’ll see icons for NeoMail, horde and SquirrelMail
These are different versions of “Web Based” and are normally not used because of the Web Server room these systems take up.

Because of the limited web server space for each unit, use of a web-based is not recommended.

It’s recommended that names parallel job titles, such as fc, vfc, cs, etc
Later on we will setup mail forwarding using these names.

Forwarding
forwarding is used to send “auxiliary job title” s to a member’s personal account
This prevents spammers from obtaining personal addresses
When a new members takes an elected or staff position, the forwarding is easy to update and no website changes are necessary.

The mailing list feature gives the user the ability to send an , with one address, to a selected group within that unit.
The CS staff officer creates these mailing lists
