Creating a Solution From a Solid
By Henry Hodaly

Calculations Before we can begin, we have to do our calculations. We had to use the molarity and volume to find the moles, and then multiply the moles by the molar mass to find how much of the solute we need. These calculations are in section 1.

Weighing the Solute In this step, we zeroed out the scale and then got the exact amount of CuSO₄ that we needed, which was 1.25g.

Fill Water Halfway In this step, we only fill it half way with water before adding the solute.

Poison the H₂0 Now we are adding the CuSO₄ to the water.

Top Up Now we fill it the rest of the way with water and shake it to help it fully dissolve.

Dilution Now we have to do our calculations for the second part. In part 2, we had to find out how much volume we would need to dilute it to a lower molarity.

Pour in the Stock In this step, we had to pour the required amount of the stock in to our test tube.

Top Up Now we have to top up our test tube with water.

Pour in Beaker We then wrote our names on it and put it away.
