Compassionate Care Emergency Care Dementia Care Children & Young People Primary Care So where did it all start. The Skills Development Strategy (SDS) sets out the five year strategic workforce and education interventions required to support providers of NHS services in Kent, Surrey and Sussex to deliver excellent patient centred care. Complements existing education and training and responds to the HEE Mandate The SDS has been developed by providers, in partnership with Health Education Kent, Surrey and Sussex and the priorities described have been informed by the health needs of our population both now and in the future. Technology Enhanced Learning Career Progression Developing people for health and healthcare 2

3 Dementia Programme Workstreams 2014/15 Families and carers
Develop and deliver training to staff in memory clinics and other diagnostic teams to support families Families and carers Implement plans for the Time for Dementia study and undertake gap analysis in undergrad curricula Practitioners in training Deliver 2 primary care Dementia Fellowships and develop and deliver 1 acute care to over 90 delegates Professionals in practice Deliver foundation level awareness training to care home staff and scope need for care home dementia fellowship Care home staff Train 14,455 staff in foundation level awareness training Foundation level dementia awareness training DF purpose is development of Clinical and l’ship skills (over 3 modules) to develop specialist skills to take back to communities to enable positive change Network of over 80 DFs (GPs, practice nurses, EC drs/nurse, AHPs, pharmacist)

4 Achievements 2014/15 Dementia Fellowship in Primary and Community Care (50 Fellows) Foundation Level Dementia Awareness Training (29,000 patient facing staff) Time for Dementia curriculum change and study set up Leadership in Dementia Conference Sept 14 2015/16 Dementia Fellowship in Acute Hospital and Emergency Care (30 Fellows) Time for Dementia curriculum implemented and evaluation starts Delivery of training for memory assessment service staff to empower families and carers Delivery of dementia leadership training for healthcare staff working in nursing homes 4
