Bell Work- Monday 8/27 Tone and Mood
On one side of your notecard, you will define the term tone, create a word list of adjectives that can be used to describe tone, and create an example to illustrate tone using your summer reading book. On the other side of your notecard, you will define the term mood, create a word list, and create an example to illustrate mood using your summer reading book. You need to create a visual representation of these words in a way that best helps you. Go to my website, mturpen.weebly.com. First, view the PowerPoint (first file under this week). Then, visit the second file for this week. Choose the information that best helps you complete your card.

Syntax/Diction and Imagery
Bell Work- Tuesday 8/28 On one side of your notecard, define syntax and give an example (focus on slides 9 and 20). On the other side of your notecard, define diction and give an example (focus on slides 3 and 5). On your second card, define imagery and give an example (focus on slides 23 and 26). *include pictures if that helps Go to my website and click on “The Big Three” PowerPoint (third file this week). Bell Work- Wednesday 8/29 Theme/Thesis Complete the “Theme” handout.
On one side of the notecard, COPY the information at the top of the handout to create a notecard for theme. *add additional information if you choose On the other side of the notecard, define thesis. Use the thesis statement file on my website to create the card (include all information on # 1-3). Remember… create a visual representation that best helps you! Theme/Thesis

Semicolon/ Subject-verb agreement/ Comma Rules
Bell Work- Thursday 8/30 Semicolon/ Subject-verb agreement/ Comma Rules A lot of rules will be going on these three cards, so make sure you neatly label each rule and leave plenty of room to add more information. Go to the grammar link on my website. Create one card for comma rules - on the grammar link, click on Commas and write rule #23. Create one card for semicolon rules. On the grammar link, click Semicolons and write rules #32 and #33. Create one card for subject-verb agreement rules. On the grammar link, click on Agreement and write rule #68.

Create a card for pronoun agreement. Go to the grammar link, click on Agreement and write rules #69, #69a, and #70. Again, a lot of information will be going on this card, so please make sure you neatly label each rule and leave plenty of room for more information. Pronoun agreement
