List schools involved: Barton St Peters, Berkeley Primary, Bottesford Juniors, Burton Upon Stather Primary, Brigg Primary, Brumby Juniors, Crowle Primary, Krimington Primary, Lincoln Gardens Primary, Oasis Academy Henderson Ave, Oasis Academy Parkwood, St Barnabas CofE Primary, Wrawby St Mary’s CofE Primary EIS Athletics Finals 2017 This years annual EIS Athletics finals took place on Tuesday 11th July, once again at the world renowned English Institute of Sport, Sheffield. Similar to the previous year, schools were split into different categories, based on the number of pupils they have on roll and were therefore placed in a small, medium or large school category. Schools were permitted to bring 24 children from across KS2 to compete in various different Athletics style challenges over the course of the day. Points achieved from both Y3/4 boys and girls categories were added together to scores from both Y5/6 boys and girls categories in order to create a total score. As each score achieved by each pupils was ranked against the other pupils taking part, the lowest score therefore at the end of the day would be deemed the winning school. A winning school would be allocated for each small, medium and large category therefore all of the participants were doing everything they could to ensure their school would be crowned champions. The morning consisted of a combination of individual track and field events. Schools selected runners took part in 200m, 600m, 40m and 60m distances as well as long jump and soft javelin with all participants taking part in a team speed bounce. After a well earned lunch break attention turned to the team track events. Teams, based on their age group, competed against each other 6 x 40m, 4 x 50m, 4 x 100m and mixed distance Swedish relays where children run varying distances to achieve a team total. Just like in the mornings events, competition was fierce, with schools desperately trying to achieve the lowest rankings possible to improve their schools chances of winning. After 5 hours of fast paced athletics, the results were finally in! In the small schools category, Wrawby took the medals. Well done Wrawby! In the medium schools category, Crowle Primary blew their opposition away and stormed to a victory. Well done Crowle! In the large schools category, things were extremely tight between several schools and it would therefore be the team relays in the afternoon that ultimately decided which school would be named the winners. Congratulations to Bottesford Juniors for claiming the victory. @nlschoolsport
