1 year 8 Level 5 – ‘NEARLY ALWAYS’ GOOD -
‘I work well in group, co-operating and helping direct. With some teacher guidance I complete set tasks successfully’ I actively take part in a range of Drama strategies to explore character and situation, with some depth, focus and maturity. PLT- I understand the character’s subtext & motivation [what s/he is really feeling, thinking and wants to achieve]I understand how this can be affected by his/her personality , events that happen or the society they live in] PLT-During rehearsal I try to keep improving and refining my work. I spot problems & offer suitable solutions which are used. PLT- I listen well to suggestions & advice so I can combine other people’s ideas with mine to create the best piece possible. I use my imagination well [showing some originality] and include a good range of drama techniques and styles eg. cross-cut I organise clear, understandable plays of different types to suit an audience [devised and scripted] I use available technology / resources to enhance my play & create dramatic effect [rostra, lights, stage design, ppt, music] I am a confident performer who can create & play a range of characters quite convincingly ,using; voice, body language, space & levels. I sustain these for a reasonable amount of time. I remember lines & cues and can cover mistakes quite effectively. I nearly always watch plays in ‘silence’ [with focus and respect] to compare different versions & give effective feedback. I can pick out key ingredients [elements] of different genres / styles we’ve covered. I can explain important similarities and differences between theatre styles of different times and cultures. LEVEL 6 - ALWAYS A VERY GOOD STANDARD – ‘With occasional teacher advice, I work effectively / almost independently [lead direct & encourage] I can select from a wide range of Drama strategies to explore a character/situation in depth. I show focus and maturity. PLT- I understand very well, the character’s subtext/motivation and demonstrate this in discussion, rehearsal and performance. .PLT -I listen effectively, act upon advice and encourage others to share ideas. I can choose the ideas that work best & combine them with my own. PLT- I can easily identify problems and offer solutions to tasks, as a director and team leader, showing consideration for others. I create and present clear performances in a range of styles for different purposes. Eg. I can make up a play using symbolic representation to communicate my ideas about a challenging issue or theme. I make very good use of available technology and resources to enhance my play & create effective drama pieces. I can [devise] or bring to life [script] a wide range of characters. Each one will have a clear background and motivation. I am a confident performer who can sustain and perform my roles convincingly, using voice, body language & proxemics. I remember lines / cues effectively and cover mistakes so they are not noticeable. Feedback -I am an effective audience member ,pick out how actors/ technicians achieve particular effects/put across ideas. I make links between different style & explain which I prefer. I provide clear smart TARGETS for MYSELF & others Level 3 = ‘SOMETIMES’ ‘I need the help of the teacher and my group to complete the task’ I can use simple Drama techniques [explorative strategies] to better understand a character or a situation PLT - I understand characters behave differently to each other and I can sometimes see why. PLT - I sometimes listen well and use my imagination, to offer ideas for the play. [‘improvised’ or ‘scripted’] PLT - I can sometimes spot problems or difficulties to solve, but often rely on others to come up with the solutions. I can learn some lines I can create a simple character that is different to myself, using; voice, walk, standing position, hand gestures. I try to be ‘audience aware when ‘blocking’ my play, so the audience can see clearly & understand where it takes place I can perform to an audience but sometimes make mistakes. [can’t cover] I sometimes watch and listen well as an audience member. Feedback - I can suggest a few ways to improve my performance and others, using the correct Drama words Level 4 = ‘USUALLY’ ‘I usually work well in a group and can complete the task with my teacher’s help’ I take an active role in using Drama techniques [explorative strategies] to explore a character /situation PLT - I can usually point out a few reasons why a character behaves like they do [personality / situation] PLT- I can listen well most of the time, use my imagination and give ideas that are usually used. EG. what drama techniques to use & how to structure, short plays. PLT –I spot problems and obstacles and offer ideas to solve them, that may be used. I can use simple technical ways to make my play better & show; mood, location, time. [screens, boxes, lights, stage design] I am quite a confident performer & usually manage to cover any mistakes. I learn my lines & usually my cues I can create a character that is clearly different to me, using my voice, body language. I usually sustain this. I usually watch & listen well as an audience. I can compare performances & offer suitable feedback– strengths, weaknesses & set targets for myself & others. Feedback - I can talk about the issues or message in the Drama. I can spot the different styles & genres we’ve covered.
