You will need to choose any three of the six tasks. This may be two from one topic and one from the other, or all three tasks from one topic. Choose which ever three you find the most interesting.
The spicier the task, the trickier the skills it requires. House points will be awarded if you have tried your hardest and have put effort into all three tasks so try and the complete the hardest tasks that you think you can manage.
Use a paper clip or staple to attach all three tasks to each other and use this sheet as your front cover. If you have any problems see your teacher before the deadline day.

Topic 1 –
Peace and Conflict
Ask the question, ‘Is it ever right to go to war?’ to three people and write summaries of their opinions.
Colour code the opinions by highlighting your writing in two colours. One colour for any ideas that support the view that war can sometimes be right, and one colour for views that suggest war is never right.
Finally, give two reasons for your own opinion on the question.
Research a winner of the Noble Peace Prize*. Write a detailed diary entry from their point of view including the following information;
What they did to help create peace.
Why they think peace is important.
Do they think creating peace is easy? Why?
*You may want to choose Martin Luther King Jr, Malala Yousafzai, or Jody Williams.
Write a script for a TV / radio debate of the question ‘Can war ever be justified?’ The debate must between a character who supports war and a character who is an absolute pacifist, someone who feels violence is never the answer. You may want to include a neutral host character, who asks questions to the other characters. You script must include at least three points or arguments on each side of the argument. You can either hand in the script, or record* your debate as a TV show / radio show or podcast, and hand in a file of the recording.
*If you choose to record your debate, you can write and perform/ record the debate in groups of no more than four students.
Topic 2 –
Equality
Create a poster to help raise awareness of one of the human rights*, including the following;
Create a logo for the human right.
Explain what the human right is.
Explain two reasons why the human right is important.
Explain how it would feel to have this human right taken away from you.
*You may want to choose the right to education, the right to freedom of speech, or the right to a fair trial.
Research a charity that helps people in poverty*. Write a pitch to persuade your audience to donate money to the charity, including the following;
Briefly summarise the history of the charity
Explain various ways in which the charity helps people.
Explain why the work of the charity is important.
Explain how donations can help the charity.
*You may want to choose Christians Against Poverty, Shelter or Save the Children.
Write a short story to teach young children why prejudice (judging someone without knowing them) and discrimination (treating someone negatively because they are different to you) are wrong.
Your story must include one character judging another before they learn not to discriminate. Remember your target audience - do not include anything offensive and be sure to give your story a happy ending!
If you would prefer, you can create a comic strip or story board to present your story. If you do choose this option, you will still needs writing / captions as well as the pictures.
