Organelle Investigation and Research
In this task the student will use internet connected device (laptops & PC’s) to research information about their selected organelle. SUBSTITUTION Technology acts a direct substitute, with no functional improvement Log into the laptop or desktop using your student ID and password Use the website, Windows to the Universe, or Biology Junction, to learn about the cells and their organelles. Complete the organelle data sheet Complete PowerPoint presentation of your organelle Log off of device This task uses: Internet connected device Internet search engine PowerPoint Learning Objective(s): Use technology when appropriate to enhance laboratory investigations and presentations of findings (SI-H-A3) Identify and describe structural and functional differences among organelles (LS-H-A1) TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/ Grant School: Iowa High School Louisiana State Standard: SI-H-A3, LS-H-A1 Grade Level/Subject: 9 & 10/ Biology I Special Directions/Considerations: Students with limited reading ability may need to be partnered with a stronger reader. Activity Evaluation: Data sheet will be graded for accuracy Prerequisites for students:

A Quizizz of Organelles Go to join.quizizz.com
In this task the student will complete a Quizizz for their specific organelle. AUGMENTATION Technology acts as a direct tool for substitution with some functional improvement. Go to join.quizizz.com Enter the game code Enter your ID as a nickname Complete the review of organelles Finish the review at your own pace and submit This task uses: Internet connected device Quizizz Learning Objective(s): Use technology when appropriate to enhance laboratory investigations and presentations of findings (SI-H-A3) Identify and describe structural and functional differences among organelles (LS-H-A1) TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/ Grant School: Iowa High School Louisiana State Standard: SI-H-A3, LS-H-A1 Grade Level/Subject: 9 & 10/Biology I Special Directions/Considerations: Activity Evaluation: Prerequisites for students:

iCell Partner Presentation
M iCell Partner Presentation In this task the students will combine with their organelle partner and utilize iCell to present their information to the class. MODIFICATION Technology allows for significant task redesign. Students will combine with their organelle partner Log in to the device with one of their user ID and passwords Open iCell website Select animal or plant cell (organelle specific) Use the 3D model generated to locate the organelle being presented Complete partner PowerPoint presentation of your specific organelle Field 3 relative questions from class regarding your organelle Save PowerPoint presentation to computer Open Coach Anderson’s Blackboard site Save presentation to Organelle Link on Blackboard Presentations will be linked to High School Science Department Blackboard for district teachers to review with classes This task uses: Internet connected device iCell website Projector Blackboard PowerPoint Learning Objective(s): Use technology when appropriate to enhance laboratory investigations and presentations of findings (SI-H-A3) Identify and describe structural and functional differences among organelles (LS-H-A1) TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/ Grant School: Iowa High School Louisiana State Standard: SI-H-A3, LS-H-A1 Grade Level/Subject: 9 & 10/Biology I Special Directions/Considerations: Activity Evaluation: Prerequisites for students:

R Review and Revisit In this task the students will review other presentations, comment on those presentation and access their own presentation and view comments. REDEFINITION Technology allows for the creation of new tasks that were previously not conceivable. Go to the presentations on Coach Anderson’s Blackboard Select 3 of the presentations, other than yours, and review and comment on those presentations Be sure your comments include valid reasons for improvements and/or additional information that can be added to improve the presentation Select your organelle presentation Review the comments from classmates and classes in the district Use the comments and reviews to revisit your presentation and make any necessary improvements Save your final presentation to Coach Anderson’s Blackboard site under the Final Presentation link This task uses: Internet connected device Blackboard Learning Objective(s): Use technology when appropriate to enhance laboratory investigations and presentations of findings (SI-H-A3) Give an example of how new scientific data can cause an existing scientific explanation to be supported, revised, or rejected (SI-H-A5) TEACHER NOTES: Teacher’s name/ Grant School: Iowa High School Louisiana State Standard: SI-H-A3, SI-H-A5 Grade Level/Subject: 9 & 10/Biology I Special Directions/Considerations: Activity Evaluation: Prerequisites for students:
