She is still alive and well today and is currently 83 years old

3. Importance
Rita Moreno is one of the most well known and accomplished hispanic artist.
She has won all of the major entertainment awards, including a Grammy, a Tony, an Oscar and an Emmy. She was only the 3rd person and first hispanic in history to win all four awards.
Her career began in 1954 and she is still working today.
She has starred in countless films and is most known for her role in West Side Story as Anita.

4. Nationality Rita Moreno is of Puerto Rican descent.
Both her mother and her father were Puerto Rican.
She was born in Puerto Rico before coming to America at a very young age.

5. Early Life
Rita came to the United States from Puerto Rico as a small child with her mother.
She was born Rosa Dolores Alverío, but made Rita Moreno her stage name.
Growing up, she was teased and bullied because of her Latino heritage.
She had her first big show at age 11 and her career took off after that.

9. Her Career Today
Today Rita is still working hard. She recently released her first ever all Spanish album and now voices a character in a kid’s TV series called Nina’s World.
She especially enjoys doing shows for children. Last year she voiced a character in Rio 2 and in 2003 she voiced a character in Scooby Doo.
Even at 83 she is still healthy, happy, and very talented.

10. Inspiration
I chose to research Rita Moreno for my report because she is such a strong and talented individual.
I find her story inspiring because it was so hard for her to make friends and connect with the people around her growing up because she was Puerto Rican.
She is also very talented at many different things like singing, dancing, and acting. I was surprised to discover that she starred in Electric Company, a children’s show I grew up watching.
