Performance Ideas for Active Remembrance
Flashmob to War What Is It Good For Choreograph a simple dance. Teach the dance to various groups of people in your community / school Set a time when the flashmob is going to take place and publicise this information to those involved Ensure you have the equipment to play the audio in the designated venue Start the flashmob with 2 or 3 confident dancers and watch it grow! Choral performance of a song Decide on a song to perform with your church / school choir Find a suitable arrangement to perform with however many vocal parts you have access to Rehearse the song with your choir ahead of the INSPIRE event At the event, perform the song with the choir at an appropriate moment in the ceremony Performance of a 1 man play Devise or write a play within the community or ask a writer to create a play. Find an actor to direct in the play Rehearse the play Find a venue (probably at the INSPIRE event) to perform the play Perform at the INSPIRE event. Spoken word performance Run a workshop using the Peace Charter resources from the INSPIRE website at Once you have got your communities and classes to create their material run a workshop performing them to each other. Start in pairs and then small groups and then to the whole group If they are confident with their poetry, collate a spoken work section of your INSPIRE event where they are able to present and perform their work. Performing arts and dance pieces Initially reach out to your churches and communities offering the opportunity for performers to get involved in an INSPIRE event Once you have got people signed up, have a session with them to decide what kind of things people are wanting to showcase Once the performances have been decided upon, allow for rehearsal time and facilitation in the lead up to the event Help guide the rehearsals where necessary so as to make sure that it is focusing on the right things… peace/conflict resolution Watch the performances at the INSPIRE event.
