2 Examples of periodic motion:
Periodic motion: it is motion which is regularly repeated in equal periods of time. Examples of periodic motion: 1-oscillatory motion wave motion Oscillatory motion: it is the motion of the oscillating body around its rest point , where the motion is repeated through equal intervals of time. Important notice: the kinetic =1/2(massXsquared velocity) Examples of oscillatory motion: 1-clock tuning fork motion of swing

3 Note/ the motion of rotary bee is considered as a periodic motion, because it is repeated regularly through equal time intervals , but it is not oscillatory motion ,because it isn't repeated on the two sides of its rest position. Application for oscillatory motion: Microwave oven : it is an oven used to cook or heat food -it is function depends on the vibration of water molecules present in food by the effect of microwave ,this vibrational (oscillatory) motion causes the collision of water molecules , which leads to the increase in its heat energy in a very short time that helps cooking the food. -food must be put in (glass , pottery or ceramic pots ) while metallic pots are not used because they reflect microwaves.

4 Some concepts related to the oscillatory motion :
(1) Amplitude (2) complete oscillation. (3) Periodic time (4) frequency.

5 *1* The amplitude: It is the maximum displacement done by the oscillating body away from its rest position. - The measuring unit of the amplitude is *meter*(m) or *centimeter*(cm).

6 *2* complete oscillation:
It is the motion of an oscillating body when it passes by a fixed point on its path two successive times in the sane direction. Note: Each complete oscillation includes four amplitudes.

7 *3* periodic time: It is the time taken by an oscillating body to make one complete oscillations. *the measuring unit of periodic time is second (sec). The periodic time can be determined by the following relation: The periodic time= time in second/ no. of complete oscillations.

8 *4* frequency: The number of complete oscillations made by an oscillating body in one second. *the measuring unit of frequency is hertz (Hz) relative to the German scientist hertz. The frequency can be determined by the following relation: the frequency=no. of complete oscillations/time is seconds.

9 Frequency= 1/periodic time Periodic time=1/frequency
The relation between frequency and periodic time: From the two equations of periodic time and frequency ,we conclude that: Frequency= 1/periodic time & Periodic time=1/frequency Note: the relation between the periodic time and the frequency is an inverse relation. (the frequency increases by decreasing the periodic time and vice versa)
