32. The “Compromise” of 1877 A Political Crisis:
This “Compromise” resolved the disputed 1876 presidential election.
Rutherford B. Hayes would become president in exchange for the withdrawal of federal troops from the South and the granting of home rule in the South.
This effectively ended the Reconstruction Era and issuing in the system Jim Crow laws.

He was the leader of the exoduster movement.

37. While Pap is considered “The Father of the Exodus” he was just one part of a massive movement known as the The Great Exodus or Great Migration. Some 50,000+ black southerns were able to go west.
