1 Let’s get through the Who, What, When, & Why of Mrs. Hunter’s World.
This Is How We Do. Let’s get through the Who, What, When, & Why of Mrs. Hunter’s World.

2 Who? Kristy Hunter 7th & 8th Grade ELA Theatre Teacher
1 Furbaby & 1 Husband American Idol Writer

3 What? We’ll learn how to read well. We’ll learn how to write well.
We’ll learn how to think deeper. We’ll learn how to relate to others. We’ll learn how to make choices – good ones. We’ll learn how to be our best.

4 When? School goes from August 10th – May 26th.
Class runs 90 minutes each day. When do you pay attention? When do you crack jokes? When are you actually learning?

5 Why? Why do we need school? Intrinsic v. Extrinsic Goals Caring
Making the best of something

6 How? I do, you do, we do. Group work Being engaged Checking my website
Asking important, relevant questions Taking notes Listening to & respecting those around us

7 Memes...

8 If you don’t participate...

9 Cell Phones? There’s a basket in the student supplies corner where your phone lives for the day. Turned off. And never touched until you leave.

10 Preparation YES Seriously. The longer you’re out of the
classroom, the less time you have to learn important things. Get all the materials you need to help you learn BEFORE you come to class. Wanna know what you need? Check out the “Classroom Materials” tab in your flip book.

11 Expectations. We will take time to learn these over the next three weeks. However, the sooner you get them down, the easier it’s going to be on you. Respect. Be Prepared. Follow Directions. Be Actively Engaged. Raise Your Hand.

12 Procedures! This is what takes the longest of all the things
we will learn. It’s important for you to know exactly what is expected of you throughout the year. Check out the Procedures tab. That’s a lot! The good news is that I’m not going to make you learn them all at the same time. We’ll take about four procedures each week. If I had a sub and you went a day without me... What would you do? How would you behave?

13 Tips... 1. Study 2. Pay attention 3. Write 4. Feedback 5. Don’t stress

14 Last Thing: Writing We do a lot of writing in
7th & 8th grade. Imagine the zombie apocalypse has wiped out most of the population, and it is up to us to restart civilization. What will you write that will leave an impression on future generations? Will we impress them? Give your readers a reason to care about your work *every* time.
