1 The European Union’s programme for India
This project is funded by The European Union The European Union’s programme for India Clean Energy Cooperation with India (CECI): Legal and policy support to the development and implementation of energy efficiency legislation for the building sector in India (ACE:E2) ECBC Compliant Building Project – Demo Project 18th May 2018 Clean Energy Cooperation with India (CECI): Legal and policy support to the development and implementation of energy efficiency legislation for the building sector in India (ACE:E2) First Regional Workshop to Implement Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) in India Session 4- Demonstration Project MEDA, Pune 18th May 2018 Project implemented by EXERGIA S.A. member of SACO Consortium, in collaboration with PwC India This project is funded by The European Union

2 Purpose of Demo Project
To showcase the technical practicalities in achieving ECBC compliance in a building 01 To demonstrate the benefits of ECBC compliance building in terms of energy saving and financial viability of the project 02 To provide evidence and confidence to designers, developers and financial institutions 03

3 Key stages- Demonstration project
The scope of work include the following Identification of buildings Collection of data Data analysis Techno-economic analysis Report preparation and submission The various stages of a building in which the above- mentioned scope of work will be applicable are Stage 1 Design feasibility process Stage 2 Complete design of the building Stage 3 Tendering Procurement of contractor Stage 4* Construction and supervision Stage 5* Commissioning Stage 6* Monitoring and Reporting Study tours

4 Identification of Demonstration project for ECBC Compliance
1 2 3 New Building a connected load of 100 kW or greater (Contract demand of 120 kVA or greater). having conditioned area of 500 Sqm or more.

5 Eligible building types under ECBC
Educational (schools, colleges, universities, training institutions) Business (Office Buildings) Hospitality (Star hotel, no star hotel, Resort) Assembly (theatres, gathering halls, transport buildings like airports, railway stations, bus stations, and underground and elevated mass rapid transit system) Shopping Complex (shopping malls, stand-alone retails, open gallery malls, super markets, or hyper markets) Health Care

6 (in-house or consultants)

13 Discussion points What are deciding factors for a project to consider ECBC Impact of ECBC on initial cost and life cycle cost of a building Key challenges perceived to adopt ECBC – Public/Private Developer’s perspective on ECBC compliant buildings- Business case Changes required in existing administrative compliance processes Building bye laws Modification in SORs Tools How Integrated approach can be followed within design team for project Market instruments to promote ECBC adoption
