Concurrent enrollment, but college classes are taught by high school faculty and/or offered on the high school campus

12. Why & When to Drop a College Class
What?
Why?
Refund Date
~ 10% (2 weeks)
Last day to drop a class and qualify for a refund. Does not apply to HS students who do not pay tuition fees. No entry on permanent records.
Decided not to take the class and want a refund.
Census Date
~ 12% (2.5 weeks)
Last day to drop a class without entry on permanent records.
Decided not to take the class and do not want any record of withdrawing from the class.
Final Drop Date
~ 35% (6 weeks)
Last day to withdraw from a full term class with a “W”. A “W” will appear on permanent records.
Earning a D or F in the class and unlikely to increase grade by end of semester.
After Final Drop Date
Student will receive grade earned in class. Grade will appear on permanent records.
Did not drop or withdraw in time. Was not aware of progress in class.
*Important to check exact drop dates for each class. Percent of semester and weeks into semester are
approximations only for full term classes. Note that dropping classes may impact HS progress.

13. What are the Implications of a “W”?
“W” may impact High School progress
May need course for A-G or other requirements
May not be able to get into a ‘replacement’ high school course
“W” is an official college record
Remain on a college transcript
Cannot be removed even if the course is completed in future
Not used to calculate GPA
Considered an ‘attempt’; students can only attempt courses twice
“W” as indicator of CCCC academic progress
Excessive “W”s can be a factor in possible academic probation
Enrollment after earning a “W” will require HS students to discuss with college and HS counselors jointly
Students earning two “W”s or a non-passing grade in a concurrent course will not be able to enroll in any further courses
“W” on future college admissions
No hard or fast rules
May be a factor for highly selective colleges and universities
