It’s the single, specific claim that your essay or project supports.
A strong thesis statement is NOT simply an observation, a question, or a promise.
A strong thesis statement includes a
TOPIC
A PRECISE OPINION and
REASONING
*For History Day, your thesis statement should also include the words “exploration” and/or “encounter” and/or “exchange” if possible.

3. Parts of a Thesis Statement
The Subject (Your topic)
The Precise Opinion or Debatable Statement
The “Blueprint” of Reasons--how you plan to argue or prove that your opinion is correct
Three strong pieces of evidence to support your opinion
This will come from your research and may change as you learn more about your topic
