2 Principles for IPA and statistical cooperation
Objective: Improve availability and quality of official statistics in the enlargement countries Annual IPA programmes Pilot projects in selected statistical domains Technical assistance such as training or meetings Grants to NSIs to increase ownership and learn to manage EU funds Service contracts (private experts)

3 IPA 2011 Total value 8,200,000 EUR 20 different pilot projects
Service contract will end in June 2014 Implementation has been successful Grants to HR, IS, MK, RS, TR Implementation will end August 2014 The grant to Statistics Iceland has to be terminated prematurely in spring 2014 First point: Mention Countries Third point: Inclusion of EECCA countries and the cooperation between Eurostat and UNECE increased number of activities included for the enlargement countries, as well as information from EECCA countries.

6 IPA II ( ) EU has new multi-annual financial framework for IPA Regulation will be adopted in 2014 (IPA II) Support to statistics in 7 countries will continue Strategy for statistical cooperation as basis for programming (see point 3.1, doc MGSC 2014/04) Monitoring with the help of indicators (see point 3.2, doc MGSC 2014/05)

7 IPA 2014 The design phase has started at Eurostat
Eurostat production units provided ideas for pilot projects to be supported Discussion with enlargement countries on 28/02/2014 Project fiche will be prepared during 2014 Tentative start of implementation in autumn 2015
