What does the law say about attendance?
NC Law states that all children between the ages of 7-16 are required to attend school continuously. And parents must make a good faith effort to get their child to school or potentially face legal action. G.S. 115C-378 North Carolina Attendance Law -Once enrolled, they are held to this law (i.e. 5 or 6 yo) - Bringing Attendance Home

CMS Attendance policy State Law and CMS policy requires that a Principal or designee sends a letter to notify parents or guardians when a child has reached 3, 6, and 10 unexcused absences. At 3 days, the letter MUST be mailed At 6 days, the letter MUST be mailed. At 10 days, the letter MUST be sent via certified mail or hand delivered, per CMS policy.

Group activity: “How parents can make a difference at home”
Do you have a back-up plan for times that you cannot get your scholars to school? Do you take your scholars on vacation only during official school holidays? Have you established a regular bedtime and morning routine for your scholars? Do you track and monitor how many days of school your scholars miss?
