What is Constellation?
Constellation is a graphical representation of a process from which all possible variants of the process can be composed;
Constellations or their parts might be shared among processes which are structurally similar even though they are from different areas; and
Constellations and their components are open and flexible and might be implemented by open source software.

3. Key one: Smart Door Codes
This is a starting constellation. All starts with people – and people communicate. Smart Door Codes map the communication channels of a user with other systems.

Light Swords
Light swords is a constellation describing a process of negotiation about a customer issue between a customer and vendor. It might also describe non-ODR processes – e.g. a process of negotiation of a contract beween two parties.

Flower
Flower describes negotiation about a customer issue where different aspects of the customer issue is dealt with by separate suppliers of the integrating vendor. Or it might also describe negotiation between a company and its logistics provider.

Space Ship
Space ship describes negotiation of a customer issue where the vendor refers its customer to its suppliers which each deal with separate aspects of the issue. Or it might also describe an agency relationship where an agent facilitates conclusion of contracts btw. a company and its clients.

Child
Child is a constellation for the process of resolving dissatisfactions using a single third-party neutral; or for simple transport of goods or other simple third-party services:

Castle
Castle is a constellation for ODR systems with an ODR administrator and two or more neutrals to resolve cases; or for more complex third-party services (e.g. insurance).

9. Constellation’s components
Each Constellation is comprised of the following open components: (i) a mask of the Constellation which remains the same or substantially similar for different processes which are nevertheless structurally similar; and (ii) content filling the mask which is always different for different processes. .

Mask
Each Constellation’s mask might be comprised of one or more of the following components:
Dot: a Dot represents a stakeholder/role (person or person’s system);
Triangle: a Triangle represents a result of a process (e.g. a settlement as a result of negotiation between the parties);
Line: a Line represents all information flows between two Dots (endpoints of the line); (e.g. all different alternatives for information flows within a negotiation process (depicted as a line between two negotiating parties);
Circle: a Circle represents unlimited number of variants of certain feature of a process or processes (e.g. unlimited number of platforms with which it is possible to communicate); and
Splash of colour: Colours/sounds represent art and/or emotions which might be present in any constellation or its component;
Other: There will be other elements developed soon by the community.

11. Characteristics of the components
Each of the components mentioned above has a number of characteristics which shape the individual data flows forming the 3d shape of each Constellation. All the characteristics must be capable of describing masks of multiple processes. All the characteristics are anonymized, no personal data are needed. Our White Paper contains all the initial Constellations with examples of their Masks, components and characteristics.

What is it for
ODR Machine has been created in the process of developing a new technology called Alternative platforms. Alternative platforms will enable to efficiently re-use open code among platforms including ODR platforms. ODR and e-justice platforms will be very quick to develop and maintain. Alternative platforms will also enable to develop so called personal communication tools (PCTs) which will assist people in regaining control over their privacy.

13. How does ODR Machine work?
A customer will define desired features of its future ODR platform from the (current) set of close to 100 features, each with several options. ODR Machine will then generate functioning ODR platform with implemented features ready to be deployed – including pre-selected plugins, user dashboards and comprehensive branding. Desired features not included in the core open source ODR Machine can be obtained through our online marketplace or developed using the published open source spec.
