11 Programme Development
Since 1997, cooperation with a number of UN agencies has been implementing a a Gender Statistics Programme (GSP) for African countries to their capabilities in the production, use and dissemination of gender statistics to lead to more effective policies promoting change for the benefit of women and the advancement of society as a whole GSP activities have commenced on both the regional and national levels in many African countries ESCAP: two Regional Workshop on Women and Men in the ESCAP Region ECA: two workshops in Southern and Eastern African countries 11

Under the umbrella of the Government of Uganda, UN, etc list all efforts towards the attainment of gender SDG 5 in Uganda, such as: National reports on gender issues national strategies for improving gender statistics Work plans Development of National Gender Statistics Programmes National workshops bringing together users and producers to statistics to discuss national gender issues and priorities and data requirements Census and surveys. Reports of these projects included gender statistics: national work plans, overviews of national workshops and challenges in the preparation of national statistical reports 16
