Cassio says at the start: “I have poor and unhappy brains for drinking” (Can’t take his drink!)
Iago gets the party going, singing drinking songs, encouraging Cassio to drink – he is drunk very quickly!
When Cassio leaves, Iago comments on Cassio’s “vice” for drink to Montano saying “’Tis’ evermore the prologue to his sleep”
This is another example of Iago
being two-faced (like the god Janus!)

2. Cassio the fighter! Wednesday 3rd July
Iago sends Roderigo after Cassio and the two re-enter fighting. Montano tries to stop Cassio striking Roderigo, accuses Cassio of being drunk – which angers Cassio, who stabs Montano! Iago calls for the town bell for the rung to fetch help – and wake Othello up // disrupt him from his wedding night
(Othello will not be happy!)
