The fair will need to be interesting and exciting for visitors and at the same time teach them about how habitats can change and what they can do to help save endangered species and take care of the world
4
Polar Habitats Ocean Habitats There can be 4 sections at the fair, each with a beautiful collage as its centre piece British Habitats Rainforest Habitats
5
Problems with the habitat
Explain the threat of rising temperatures causing the polar icecaps to melt. Key Words: greenhouse gases, trap heat, carbon dioxide, burning fuels, rising temperatures, climate change, extreme weather Information about the habitat Arctic Antarctic Explain where it is found, what lives there and why it is special Polar Habitats Here are some ideas to help you think about this section of the fair What can be done? Explain all the ways that visitors can help stop climate change by saving energy and fuel Other resources to display Select some of the posters that were made in Session 3 and some of the greenhouse investigation results and bar graphs and display them Design some exciting activities Set up a demonstration, quiz, game or activity to teach visitors about climate change and what can be done to stop it
6
Problems with the habitat
Explain the threat of deforestation. Key Words: habitat destruction, deforestation, oxygen, carbon dioxide, species, palm oil, grazing, timber, sustainable Information about the habitat Explain where it is found, what lives there and why it is special Rainforest Habitats Here are some ideas to help you think about this section of the fair What can be done? Explain all the ways that visitors can help stop deforestation by not buying products that contain palm oil, or wood unless they come from a sustainable source. Look out for logos Other resources to display Select some of the orangutan and Sumatran elephant sheets from Session 5 to display Design some exciting activities Set up a demonstration, quiz, game or activity to teach visitors about deforestation and what can be done to stop it

Problems with the habitat
Explain the threat of pollution, climate change and particularly the threat of plastics in the seas. Key Words: oceans, seas, corals, fish, mammals, reptiles, marine life, salt water, plastics, waste, single use plastics, beaches, pollution, reduce, reuse, recycle, litter Information about the habitat Explain where it are found, what lives there and why it is special Ocean Habitats Here are some ideas to help you think about this section of the fair What can be done? Explain all the ways that visitors can help stop the pollution of the oceans by reducing the waste they produce through Reduce , Reuse, Recycle Other resources to display Select some of the tables and bar graphs from Session 4 that show how much a typical family throws away in an average week and how much of it can be reduced, reused or recycled. Display them. Design some exciting activities Set up a demonstration, quiz, game or activity to teach visitors about plastics in the oceans and what can be done to stop it
8
Other problems with UK habitats
Give information on how changes in land use are affecting wildlife Other problems with UK habitats Explain the problems of waste, landfill sites filling up, litter being dropped. Key Words: changes in land use, increased population, new building, intensive farming, hedgerows disappearing, flowers, bees, butterflies, landfill, litter, reduce, reuse, recycle British Habitats Here are some ideas to help you think about this section of the fair What can be done? Explain all the ways that visitors can help protect British wildlife. Other resources to display Select some of the bee, butterfly and hedgehog sheets from Session 5 to display. Design some exciting activities Set up a demonstration, quiz, game or activity to teach visitors about ways to help save UK wildlife and habitats.
9
Try to make your display eye catching and attractive.
Each team should think about how they will share their message with visitors. Here are some ideas: You could write signs for them to read Draw or print pictures and write labels Prepare a talk Create a quiz, game, activity or demonstration Try to make your display eye catching and attractive. Divide into 4 teams – 1 for each habitat. Within each team you will need to share out the tasks. Remember you are trying to persuade people to make changes in their lives that will help save habitats and wildlife! Let’s get started!
