2 What is visibility? Senior colleagues know your name, your interest, and your future plans. Faculty have heard your questions in seminars and meetings People in your field know your name through: Reading your articles in journal Viewing Google scholar?

3 Things to increase your visibility
Introduce yourself to several people: In seminars Give free copy of your thesis or papers Present your papers in international conferences; ask your head department for availability of financial support Put your name and the date on protocols you have developed and pass them out to your lab and collaborators Update your resume and make appointments to discuss with senior faculty

4 Things to increase your visibility
Volunteer to give a talk in outside you faculty or university in government agencies and foreign universities during your travel. Try to give talks in small Indonesian universities. Write research proposals for several grants, and invite peers to join you as co-investigator. Write manuscript to submit to ISI or Scorpus journals and invite known professors as co-authors or readers. Volunteer to be committee or reviewer international conferences. In disciplines of Built Environment, you can try SENVAR, INTA, GASS. Publish your thesis into a book with Penerbit UTM.

5 Things to increase your visibility
Mentor an undergraduate or honours student Join PhD-research-discussion groups Get business cards and use them! Always remind yourself that I am a scholar because “The ink of the scholar and the blood of a martyr are of equal value in heaven.” Tell yourself that I am a member of FAB team
